One night while watching MasterChef, Gordon Ramsey said the Opera cake is one of the most difficult cakes to make. So when I saw this on the menu on my NCL cruise I knew I had to eat.

It is made with layers of almond sponge cake soaked in coffee syrup, layered with ganache and coffee French buttercream, and covered in a chocolate glaze. I was worried that I wouldn’t like it because I don’t like coffee flavor. But you barely taste it. You expect the chocolate on top is hard but it was quite soft and my fork glided into the chocolate. You can taste each layer on the cake. You get the moist spnge cake, then a slight crunch from a soft water and a the wondeful chocolate ganache coats your toungue. Its a whole experience. When I first bit into tonit, it reminded me of an elrangamt kit Kat. Crazy right. I couldn’t stop eating it, if I didn’t have to pack I would have ordered at least two more.
